Carlton Palmer believes it would take a huge offer for any of Arsenal, Liverpool, or Spurs to sign Sunderland’s Dan Neil.
According to Carlton Palmer, Sunderland should seek a fee in excess of £10 million for Dan Neil, with Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur all interested in the midfielder this month.
According to Sunderland Nation, the 22-year-old academy product has been scouted by Premier League clubs this season.
Liverpool sent scouts to watch the player last year, according to Mike McGrath of The Telegraph, while Burnley also had a fee rejected during the summer.
During the summer, Football Insider reported that Crystal Palace and Brentford had joined Burnley in the race, but his list of supporters has since grown.
Neil has appeared in 26 games this season, scoring or assisting on seven goals from central midfield.
Neil has also captained the team on occasion. The 22-year-old has previously been capped at England youth level and in England’s U-20 squad.”Liverpool made an enquiry about the central midfielder last summer, and the Anfield club have continued to monitor him closely,” according to the report.
“North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, as well as Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon, are all regulars for Neil.”
“In total, around a dozen clubs have a serious interest.”
Ex-England international Carlton Palmer believes Sunderland would command a high fee for their academy product and midfielder.
“Sunderland are preparing for a transfer window scramble to retain Dan Neil,” he said exclusively to Football League World.
“Reports suggest that Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur are among the Premier League clubs interested in signing him.”
“In fact, Liverpool made an enquiry in the summer without making an offer.”
“With the player, Sunderland are in an incredibly strong position.” Neil’s contract runs until the summer of 2026.
“He’s having another great season.” The midfielder is said to be happy to remain at Sunderland and wants to help the club return to the Premier League.
“At 22, he’s technically gifted, and he’s also an English player, so he meets the criteria of supplying home-grown talent to the big clubs.”
“I believe Dan has the potential to make the step up to the Premier League, but we all know Sunderland’s policy of developing young players, buying them at low prices, and then selling them for a high profit.”
“I believe Sunderland would have to make a huge offer to let Neil leave in the January transfer window.” I believe you’d be looking at more than £10 million.”
