£40,000-a-week Nottingham Forest player now makes bizarre claim about Mark Clattenburg
Nottingham Forest No.43 Ola Aina has now made a very odd claim about Mark Clattenburg.
The 49-year-old recently announced his resignation from his position as a refereeing consultant due to criticism of the role in the media, primarily from Sky Sports and Gary Neville following that extremely contentious 2-0 loss to Everton in April.
Ola Aina has made an odd revelation regarding Mark Clattenburg as Nottingham Forest gets ready for their match against Chelsea on Saturday, which could guarantee their spot in the Premier League.
Ola Aina says odd things. Admission by Mark Clattenburg
Remarkably, the Nigerian international admitted to the Guardian that he was unaware that the Consett man had taken a temporary job at Nottingham Forest.
The Guardian did not cite Aina directly when it said that, but in a preamble to his decision to rule against Nottingham Forest, the following was written:
Aina, who claims he was unaware that Mark Clattenburg officiates on Gladiators and that he was briefly employed as a refereeing consultant, believes that both the four-point deduction that has forced Forest to fight for their lives and the controversy surrounding his club’s public spat with the PGMOL have made the players more determined.
How odd.
The history of Clattenburg at Nottingham Forest was extensive.
As previously mentioned, Neville made a big deal out of it on Sky Sports, calling Nottingham Forest a “mafia gang” in remarks that, according to the Daily Mail, have sparked legal action.
It is therefore difficult to believe Aina was unaware that Clattenburg was employed at the City Ground, though maybe that speaks to the £40,000-a-week man’s attention to detail and ability to block out outside influences.
Nottingham Forest needs to take note of the Refereeing Consultant debacle.
We believe that hiring a Refereeing Consultant in the first place was a terrible decision.
Nothing on the pitch was going to be significantly altered by it; in fact, Nottingham Forest thinks the appointment infuriated the PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited).
That’s what the Daily Mail said.
Hopefully, under Evangelos Marinakis, such a strange move never occurs again.
