Tottenham enters the race for ‘immense’ 21-year-old Steve Cooper, wanted by Nottingham Forest.
Tottenham and Manchester United are preparing to move for Nottingham Forest’s Hayden Hackney.
That’s according to The Standard.
So, what’s the latest on Hayden Hackney’s interest in Forest? Let’s look more closely.
Tottenham now wants Hayden Hackney.
Well, it appears that Forest will face stiff competition for the man currently playing for Middlesbrough.
According to The Standard, Tottenham and United are now vying for Hackney, who was linked with Forest while Steve Cooper was in charge.
The 21-year-old stole the show on Tuesday night, as Middlesbrough defeated Chelsea in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.
He scored the game’s only goal, and the Championship side holds a slim lead heading to Stamford Bridge for the second leg.
Michael Carrick described Hackney as ‘immense’ following the game, and his boss holds him in high regard.
Signing him will not be easy, and the report claims that only a sensational offer will persuade Boro to sell.
Forest’s interest in Hackney could dwindle following Cooper’s exit.
This type of signing appears to be something Cooper would have been very interested in.
However, with Nuno Espirito Santo at the helm, there could be other plans for this month.
Right now, it appears unlikely that Forest will go to great lengths to sign a central midfielder, including Hackney.
Forest currently have Orel Mangala in their squad, but even he is struggling for game time.
As a result, adding another midfielder to the roster makes little sense at this point.
With Tottenham and United now vying for Hackney’s signature, this appears to be an increasingly unlikely target for Forest.
in other news, A Nottingham Forest midfielder, is wanted by both Juventus and Napoli.
