Van Hooijdonk speaks out about transfer links amid Celtic’s hunt for a striker
Sydney van Hooijdonk has responded to reports linking him to a move away from Bologna during Celtic’s January transfer window.
The Dutchman has long been linked with a move to Parkhead, following in his father Pierre’s footsteps.
Van Hooijdonk has made 11 appearances for the Serie A club this season, scoring once.
And he revealed his plans for the future. “Now, I want to score and win,” he said to DAZN. Then we’ll see how football goes; it’s like this, in football everything can change quickly.”
Brendan Rodgers has previously stated that the club is looking for another striker, with Kyogo Furuhashi the only one currently available for selection.
Meanwhile, according to reports, Gustaf Lagerbielke is “no closer” to finding a new club and leaving Celtic.
According to the Daily Record, despite recent interest from Serie A, the centre-back appears to be staying at Parkhead.
Lagerbielke joined Parkhead from Elfsborg for £3 million during the summer transfer window, but has yet to make an impact.
The Swedish international has made just nine appearances for the Scottish champions, scoring once in a 2-1 Champions League victory over Feyenoord.
Despite injuries to Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki, and Stephen Welsh earlier in the season, the 23-year-old has struggled for regular minutes and has recently failed to make matchday squads.
In other news, Motherwell set to sign Celtic winger on loan for the second half of season.
