Report: Nottingham Forest closes in on loan deal
Gio Reyna, a Borussia Dortmund attacker, is reportedly close to signing on loan with Nottingham Forest.
The Athletic reported on Tuesday that a deal between Dortmund and Forest was “not far off,” though some details had yet to be finalised.
Forest intends to include a purchase option in the loan, which will run through the end of the current season.
Reyna is expected to move this month after switching agents to Jorge Mendes, and one of the Portuguese’ longtime club partners appears to be the most likely to sign the US men’s national team star.
The 21-year-old attacker appears to have grown tired of being a bit-part player at Dortmund, having started only two games this season after recovering from a fractured leg suffered in the summer.
He’s been linked with clubs across Europe this month, but the Premier League outfit appears to have gotten ahead of the competition.
At Forest, Reyna would reunite with his USMNT teammate Matt Turner, who has been the club’s starting custodian for the majority of the season. Another USMNT goalkeeper, Ethan Horvath, is on the roster, but he could be on his way out in January after ranking third on the depth chart.
Reyna would face a relegation battle against Nuno Espírito Santo’s team, which is currently just two places and four points above the drop zone.
In other news, “Isn’t up to scratch.” Kelvin Wilson believes ‘nervous’ Nottingham Forest player is not good enough.
