Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzić speaks out on Nottingham Forest & Marseille target Giovanni Reyna’s future
Since the beginning of the January transfer window, there have been consistent reports linking Giovanni Reyna to a move away from Borussia Dortmund.
Nottingham Forest and Marseille have shown the most concrete interest in the 21-year-old, with a deal with the Premier League club thought to be close to completion last week.
However, according to Bild, deals with Forest and Marseille are on the verge of falling through because neither Dortmund nor Reyna have been convincing in their negotiations. Die Schwarzgelben’s valuation of the United States international has yet to be met, and the game time promised to Reyna does not meet his expectations.
This is a factor that is significantly important to Reyna, who is hoping to move on from the Westfalenstadion in order to seek increased on-field opportunities. Could he still have a future at Dortmund?
In a press conference following BvB’s Derby Day victory over VfL Bochum, Edin Terzić stated that he hopes to have Reyna in his matchday squad for their away to Heidenheim on Friday evening.
“I expect him to be available to me on Friday. I haven’t heard anything else. Gio is under contract; Gio is our player and did well when he came on today.”
Reyna was substituted just after the hour mark against Bochum, and while he didn’t have much of an impact on the game, he did help set up Dortmund’s second goal.
Although a move away from the club is the most likely solution, the 21-year-old still has a role in Terzić’s team.
