Angry Kris Boyd admits that one Celtic player deserves praise after last night.
Celtic’s win over Hibs last night was full of drama. Penalties, a brilliant equaliser by the home side, and a last-minute winner made this game one of the best in terms of late drama.
But, for all the excitement at the end, the game itself was fairly dull, and Celtic fans thought Hibs might have won after Dylan Levitt scored his 60th-minute equaliser.
Celtic were under pressure for much of the final 30 minutes, but an Adam Idah penalty kick was enough to secure the three points and leave Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd fuming.
Following the game, Boyd stated that Celtic robbed Hibs and that Brendan Rodgers’ side was extremely fortunate not to lose more points.
He did, however, offer some grudging praise for penalty hero Adam Idah.
Boyd told Sky Sports, “In any game, you want to get three points, but make no mistake, Celtic got away with one tonight.”
“He (Idah) has come up, and a lot of people were questioning him before he came up, but to score two massive penalties in the way he did, credit to him.
“When you win a game, everything changes around you, and you believe you were dominant, but Celtic fell far short of the standards they set over the previous two years. “It was daylight robbery, and they got away with it tonight.”
With Celtic now three points ahead in the title race, Rodgers has some breathing room heading into the Scottish Cup match against St Mirren.
Granted, the Rangers still have one game in hand, but as the saying goes, it’s better to have the points on the board.
However, Celtic must find a way to improve their performances and rediscover their killer touch because, aside from the result, there was little to celebrate in that 90-minute performance at Easter Road.
