Celtic is said to be in contract talks with two of its players.

Liam Scales is expected to be offered a new contract at Celtic, according to reports.

The Irishman appeared to be on his way out of Parkhead in the summer, following a loan spell at Aberdeen. Instead, he battled his way into the starting lineup and is now a reliable member of Brendan Rodgers’ defence.
According to the Daily Record, Celtic have begun negotiations to extend Scales’ contract, which expires in 2025. Celtic are also looking to tie down promising youngster Rocco Vata, who has been offered a new four-year contract amid Italian interest.

Rodgers said of Scales in January: “I believe the club is in talks with Liam’s agent, and he’s very happy because he’s playing. I’m sure that will be resolved in due course. “It has been an incredible story for him.”Getting our business done early is important to us, but attracting good players in January is never easy. Sometimes you can work on something for three or four months before it changes.

“We know what we want to do over the course of January and the summer and I’m sure we’ll get them in quickly.”
In October, he told BBC Sportsound that Scales is “outstanding.” I’m very happy for him. He was probably one of the biggest surprises in my coaching career.

“It’s just that I hadn’t seen him play much and there were other players ahead of him.” I’ve seen enough in training, with people leaving and others being injured, to give him the opportunity.
