Nottingham Forest’s bid for Marco Bizot was turned down.

It was a well-known fact that the Reds intended to add a new custodian to the roster in January.

After Matz Sels was signed by the team during the transfer window, Nuno Espirito Santo was not persuaded by Matt Turner or Odysseas Vlachodimos.

Stade Brestois has been talking about the unsuccessful transfer to the City Ground after Forest made him an offer.

It was very serious, he told Voetbal Primeur. Brest has received an official offer from Nottingham. I would currently be in England if the club had accepted it, but the offer was flatly turned down.

The fact that everything was done at the last minute made sense. We’ll watch what transpires over the summer.

Marco Bizot is who?

The 32-year-old arrived at Stade Brestois from AZ Alkmaar in 2021 and has been there ever since.

After progressing through the youth academy of Dutch powerhouse Ajax, he also played for Genk and Groningen.

The Ligue 1 season has seen just three clean sheets from the Dutch player, who caught Forest’s attention.

Given that he is now 32, in our opinion, this would have been a pretty foolish signing. Hopefully, Forest will push to sign a better custodian this summer.

Bizot may have been the Reds’ temporary solution while they tried to sign a better player than Turner and Vlachodimos.

Although it was evident that the player was amenable to moving to the City Ground, it seems doubtful that Forest will pursue this option once more.
