Richard Gordon and Pat Bonner perplexed by Celtic manager’s assessment of the team’s victory over Livingston

Yesterday, Celtic defeated Livingston in the Scottish Cup with a performance that left Brendan Rodgers less than entirely satisfied.

The 4-2 score seems impressive enough, but as all Celtic supporters are aware, Livingston tied the score twice and would have won if Joe Hart hadn’t made another crucial save.
When it came to his team’s performance versus David Martindale’s group, Brendan Rodgers was fairly candid.

The Celtics manager expressed his happiness with the win and the team’s advancement in the competition, but he thought his team “didn’t play well” and was only “okay in patches.” The BBC’s Pat Bonner and Richard Gordon were taken aback by the view.

Celtic vs. Livingston was deemed “bright” by the BBC duo.

The first person to respond was Richard Gordon, who stated that he thought it was the best Celtic play he had seen all season.

Gordon said, “That’s pretty interesting, Pat,” [BBC Sportsound]. Although he obviously feels that Celtic should have performed better, I thought they were actually brighter today than I have seen them many times this season.

Bonner answered, “Yeah, that’s an intriguing perspective.” In my opinion, the forward sections were significantly brighter. Particularly the expansive regions.

To be honest, I believe Rodgers has also minimised the performance. I thought Celtic looked dangerous every time they entered Livingston’s final third, aside from the finishing and the shoddy defending at the equalisers.
Nicolas Kuhn was outstanding, and the fact that he scored three goals as a winger demonstrates how committed the forwards were to finding ways to score goals.

Rangers v Celtic – team news, KO time and where to watch
Celtic would have won the game in the first twenty minutes if they had settled down in front of goal.

However, as a result of their failure to do so, Livingston gained self-assurance, and we all know the rest.
The fact that we are still competing is a plus. And should Rangers defeat Dundee on Sunday, we would return to the top of the league if we defeat St Johnstone on Saturday—albeit only for a day.

In other news, Excellent compared to Idah: Celtic has already sold Rodgers’ flawless St in a “underrated” £4.3 million star.
