Chris Sutton gives his huge Glasgow Derby prediction ahead of Celtic against Rangers.
It’s getting to the time in the Glasgow Derby buildup where analysts and former players predict who will win: Celtic or Rangers.
Both clubs will be anxious for three points in order to gain access to the automatic millions that come with a Champions League group stage spot, as well as the winner’s medal.
For Celtic, victory effectively seals the title. A win for Rangers would take the title fight to the final two games of the season, giving them the opportunity to take advantage of the millions on offer and cut the financial gap on the Parkhead club.
Leading up to the game, Chris Sutton has made his prediction on who would win the crucial match. But with a caveat.
Sutton is ‘not convinced’ with Celtic defence.
The former Celtic hero is a huge supporter of the club, but he can also be a fierce critic when necessary.
So, when this forecast was made, supporters would understand why it was done with caution.
Sutton stated [Record Celtic podcast]: “I would just err on the Celtic side to win the game. But Mick touched on Celtic from set plays and cross balls and I’m still not convinced.
“My head tells me this season Celtics performances, however good Hearts was for 90 minutes, how many times this season have Celtic gone back to back with really strong performances in consecutive games?
While Sutton has a point, Celtic’s inability to link together two good performances is primarily due to injury issues this season.
Now that Rodgers has a complete roster to select from, Celtic’s performances appear to have improved significantly, and fans will be hoping for another performance like the one they witnessed against Hearts last weekend.
Every Celtic fan as well as Rangers, are praying for three points which will bring them one step closer to winning the Title.
