Transfer chief deals Nottingham Forest major setback in their pursuit of a striker in January.
Nottingham Forest transfer news as the Reds suffer a setback in their pursuit of Werder Bremen’s Marvin Ducksch – and it appears Newcastle United are also out in the cold.
Nottingham Forest’s reported pursuit of Werder Bremen striker Marvin Ducksch has been thwarted.
Forest was drawn to the 29-year-old after he scored five goals and assisted on three others in 11 Bundesliga matches this season. Newcastle United, a Premier League rival, is also said to be interested.
According to reports in Germany on Wednesday, Forest are “very keen” on the striker, with Bremen potentially open to a €15 million (£13 million) offer in January. Clemens Fritz, the German club’s sporting director, has now refuted this.
Fritz stated Bremen’s stance in an interview with the German newspaper Bild following the initial transfer reports. He went on to say: “A winter transfer is not an option for us.”
Ducksch is already a favourite of Germany national team manager Julian Nagelsmann, who stated earlier this month in the media, “Ducksch brings a good amount of madness, which we need. He can be very valuable. He’s now got a very good record. His set pieces are very good and he’s a good finisher.”
Cooper will be keen to sign a new forward in January, even if only on loan, with Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi facing three months out due to groin surgery. Ducksch, however, appears to be out of the running unless the German club’s arm can be twisted.
