Celtic are considering a move to sign an “unbelievable” new talent for Rodgers.

The Hoops appear to be looking for reinforcements.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has appeared at ease since returning to Glasgow in the summer, and he is said to be eyeing a talented youngster as the January transfer window approaches.

Celtic’s title bid and plans for January…

Celtic are in a commanding position at the top of the Scottish Premiership table and have the opportunity to extend their lead to 11 points on Saturday when they face Motherwell at Parkhead in their first match back after the international break.

Of course, rivals Rangers will have two games in hand by the end of Saturday’s round of Scottish top-flight matches; however, establishing a lead over their arch-rivals will allow the Hoops to pile additional pressure on Phillipe Clement’s side in the title race.

Despite the ferocity of the holiday season, Rodgers will be looking to strengthen his squad depth in January. According to The Daily Record, the 50-year-old commented on his team’s mid-season plans, saying:

“The notion now is to make sure we bring in better. You can get good players in January. But it’s availability and affordability.”

“But there is no doubt that if we’re to enhance the squad in January then we’ll need to bring in someone who is going to improve us.”

The Bhoys are reportedly interested in Bologna striker Sydney van Hooijdonk as they look for another striker. Meanwhile, Motherwell sensation Lennon Miller has been mentioned as a young face who could join Rodgers’ already crowded engine room.

Celtic scout Sam Curtis

I want to be the first Sam Curtis, not the next Reece James' – St Pat's midfielder on Chelsea captain contact | Independent.ie

According to 90min, Celtic have recently scouted St Patrick’s Athletic defender Sam Curtis and are among a number of clubs interested in signing the FAI Cup winner once the January transfer window opens.

Curtis has been described as “unbelievable” by teammate Tom Grivosti and is being pursued by Premier League heavyweights Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester City. Hull City, Leeds United, and Middlesbrough are also keeping an eye on his situation.

made 39 appearances in all competitions in 2023, scoring three goals and providing three assists (Curtis statistics – Transfermarkt).

According to The Irish Independent, Chelsea captain Reece James reached out to the 17-year-old to offer advice if he ever needed some tips from an elite professional; however, despite the England international’s kind words, the Navan-born gem is refusing to get carried away. In a recent interview, he stated:

“I was delighted, it was brilliant. I am basing my game around him, but as I said, I want to be the first Sam Curtis, not the next Reece James, but it’s nice to have him there. I’m just happy he reached out. He is an inspiration to me. I’m very privileged and very blessed.”

With Celtic putting the defender on their radar, it may help Curtis’ career to have someone like James back him up, though whether he ends up in Glasgow anytime soon remains to be seen.
