Nottingham Forest could sign £25,000-a-week loanee for bargain price this summer
Gonzalo Montiel, a defender for Nottingham Forest, may have an uncertain summer transfer window.
In the summer of 2023, Forest signed the Sevilla defender on a season-long loan.
Montiel’s purchase was subject to a clause in the agreement, but he hasn’t played enough games to fulfil it.
He will instead return to Sevilla, where the La Liga team will now attempt to sell him.
There are now some details that have surfaced ahead of the transfer window that Forest may find highly intriguing.
Gonzalo Montiel is currently affordable.
In the agreement, Forest agreed to pay Montiel £9 million if he started half of the team’s Premier League games.
That won’t occur right now, and the Reds are under no need to pay that amount of money.
They will now significantly lower his valuation when he returns to Sevilla.
The 27-year-old will now be available for about £3 million in the summer, per Vamos Mi Sevilla FC.
Sevilla is eager to offload the £25,000-a-week defender because they need to make quick money off of him.
They will undoubtedly succeed in their efforts if they lower his valuation, and River Plate has been mentioned as a potential buyer of Montiel.
Forest needs to let go of Montiel.
We simply don’t think Forest should consider this deal during the summer transfer window.
Neco Williams and Ola Aina are two of the Reds’ better options; they have both had respectable seasons.
Montiel has made fewer tackles this season than Forest defender Williams, according to Who Scored.
The young Welshman appears to have made significant progress and will likely start the upcoming season as the top player in that role.
