Nottingham Forest may lose “wonderful” £80k-p/w ace to Premier League rival
Talks are taking place with another Premier League club.
The news that a “wonderful” player is reportedly in negotiations with another Premier League club about a summer exit has dealt a serious blow to Nottingham Forest.
News about transfers involving Nottingham Forest
If a miracle happens on the last day of the season, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team has a good chance of finishing in the top flight for another year. Burnley, who are already relegated, only needs a draw; however, even a defeat would force Luton Town to overcome Fulham and overturn a 12-goal deficit.
Though it has been a difficult season at the City Ground, with point deductions threatening to drop them back to the Championship, focus will shift to new signings if they manage to hold onto their Premier League status.
Logan Costa, a centre back for Toulouse, has been linked to a summer transfer to Forest. The 23-year-old is reportedly in contact with the club regarding a move that could cost more than £20 million. Alvaro Valles, the custodian for Las Palmas, is reportedly being targeted once more following interest in the winter window; his other suitors are unable to match Forest’s January offer.
While they attempt to comply with the PSR regulations of the league, Forest will also be keen to hang onto certain players, but a concerning update has surfaced about one of those players.
Hero of Nottingham Forest talks with Premier League team
The star of Nottingham Forest, Morgan Gibbs-Whites, is reportedly in talks with Tottenham about joining the team in the summer, according to a recent report from Football Insider.
According to the report, Newcastle United is mentioned as a possible suitor, and Spurs have “held discussions” with the Englishman about moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Given that Gibbs-White has, in the opinion of many, been Forest’s best player this season, losing him would be devastating for the team. With 10 assists in the Premier League and five goals for good measure, the 24-year-old has been the creative centre of his squad.
Glenn Murray, who praised the £80,000-a-week midfielder for an assist against Luton earlier this season, said of the ball: “The ball for Chris Wood’s goal was absolutely wonderful.” He didn’t even need to look to see the ball, the control, or the turn. As a former striker, he made Chris Wood’s job so easy by knowing the area that needed to be covered. He’s just generally upbeat.”
Regretfully for Forest, Gibbs-White’s opportunity to test himself in Europe and possibly even increase his chances of being called up for England frequently may be too good to pass up when joining a team of Spurs’ calibre.
In order to improve their team and avoid any further financial penalties should he decide to move on, it is imperative that Forest’s owners receive the highest compensation for his services.
