Dele Alli handed Everton lifeline despite contract situation as club confirm exits
Dele Alli’s contract at Everton will expire this summer but the midfielder will be allowed to remain with the club as he continues his recovery from a lengthy injury
The Everton career of Dele Alli is still ongoing.
After leaving Tottenham for Everton in January 2022, the midfield player has struggled to find his best form again. Alli has played in just 13 games during his two and a half years with Everton, so games have come at a premium.
This included a brief loan stint at Besiktas, where the former England international was unable to produce his best work for the Turkish team. Alli is no longer under contract, but she is free to hunt for a new job and is welcome to hang out at the club.
The 28-year-old has been away from Merseyside for some time now, continuing his rigorous rehabilitation regimen for a chronic groyne injury. And even though his contract is expiring, he will still be able to continue his rehabilitation at Goodison.
“Dele’s contract is coming to an end, but our medical team will continue to support him whilst he completes the intensive rehabilitation programme he is currently undergoing following the operation he had earlier this year,” stated Kevin Thelwell, the club’s director of football.
“Sean and I both feel it’s critical that at this crucial juncture in Dele’s recovery, his contract situation should not interfere with his rehabilitation.”
Dele, who shone in the youthful Tottenham team that made title runs, was previously considered one of the best English talents of his generation. His career has taken a severe downturn since then, but the midfield player recently asserted that he was aware of his potential.
“I know my level as a player, I know where I can get to and how good I can be when my head is in the right place,” he stated on Sky Sports. I’m in good spirits. Though I’m obviously disappointed by the injury, I can’t wait to start playing again. I find it difficult to watch football at all. The past eight months have not been easy.”
