‘I believe I can do the job’: Gray backs himself for Hibs manager role
Gray will be in the dugout as Hibs take on already relegated Livingston in their final Premiership game of the season.
Temporary After taking over as Hibernian’s manager after Nick Montgomery was fired, David Grey is confident in his ability to guide the team going forward.
The former club captain, referred to by the supporters as “Sir David,” got his most recent term as interim manager off to a victory over Motherwell on Wednesday.
He has filled the position temporarily four times already, and he thinks he is capable of managing the team on a full-time basis.
Sunday’s match against Livingston is the final one for Hibs in a disappointing Premiership season that has seen them part ways with Montgomery and Lee Johnson.
Grey stated to the media on Friday, “I’ve now been in this position four times.” It’s been uncomfortable for a variety of reasons, but the main one is that, as I mentioned earlier, you work with people who are losing their jobs all the time. However, I firmly believe that I am capable of completing the task at hand. I believe I have proven this on a few occasions thus far. However, I always prioritise doing what the club has asked me to do at this particular moment.
If Hibs defeats already-relegated Livi and Aberdeen loses to Ross County at Dingwall, they will finish at the top of the bottom six.
