Everton offer €10-15m for amazing midfielder – Toffees likely need to go higher
Almost all Portuguese newspapers were discussing Everton’s interest in Florentino Luís on Wednesday morning.
Everyone seems to agree that the Toffees, who have been keeping an eye on the midfield player from Benfica for some time, are prepared to pursue his signing this summer.
This prompted pundit Diogo Luís of Mais Futebol on CNN to discuss his predicament today, offering his thoughts on the possible transfer to Everton.
The writer offers up a few arguments for Florentino to remain at Benfica rather than moving during the summer.
The first reason is that the Eagles had a poor season, which devalues their squad. If offers for the midfield player range from €10 to €15 million, the club shouldn’t take advantage of the money and should hold onto the player for another season.
Regarding the player, Diogo Luís asserts that Florentino appears to be committed to Benfica at the moment and does not appear to be looking for a move.
The amount that Everton is willing to offer for Florentino is still unknown according to reports from the Portuguese media. These new remarks could indicate that the Toffees can’t offer too little or that it won’t be sufficient, as it has already been stated that they are unlikely to make a repeat of a previous €30 million offer.
Though the €10–15 million price range is merely a suggestion and is thought to be excessively low, there is a bright side to all of this for Everton. Thus, it might be viewed as a place to start.
