Nottingham Forest want head coach preparing for European final to replace Nuno

In preparation for a European final, head coach Evangelos Marinakis of Nottingham Forest is a big fan of Nuno Espirito Santo’s replacement.

Although he has helped Forest stay in the Premier League this season, the Portuguese incumbent’s future is unclear.
On Monday, Fabrizio Romano stated that Forest might not be able to retain Espirito Santo, and now there seem to be rumours going around.

Espirito Santo, a Forest coach, is also on Bayern’s shortlist to take over as manager.

A name has now surfaced, and it seems that Forest is reaching out to potential head coaches.
Vincenzo Italiano is a favourite of Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Mariankis.

When it comes to Nottingham Forest, there is never a dull day in the press.

As soon as Espirito Santo completes his task with the Reds, he may start looking for employment again.
The Standard in Greece claims that Marinakis, the owner of Forest, is a great admirer of Vincenzo Italiano, who is currently in charge of Fiorentina.

With the Serie A team getting ready for a Europa Conference League Final matchup against Olympiacos, nothing on this one will happen anytime soon.

It’s noteworthy that this information was released one week prior to Marinakis’ other team’s scheduled matchup with Italiano.

Following his opportunity to observe the manager in action, the Forest owner may discuss a move to Nottingham with him.

Vincenzo Italiano: who is he?
The 46-year-old played football in his parents’ hometown of Germany for the majority of his career after moving there at the age of six months.

He was a player for Genoa, Chievo, Trapani, Hellas Verona, and Padova.

In 2015, he was appointed assistant manager at Venezia, where he got his coaching start. He later coached the youth teams at Lupranense San Paolo and Vigontina San Paolo.

He started working for Trapani in 2018 and relocated to Spezia a year later, where he was promoted to Serie A right away.

He attracted Fiorentina’s attention in 2021, and he has stayed there ever since.

Last year, he guided the team to the Europa Conference League final, but a late goal by West Ham caused a heartbreaking defeat.

Now that he has advanced to the tournament final once more, he will be aiming for the Olympiacos, who are owned by Marinakis.

Espirito Santo’s sacrifice would be extremely harsh.

Of course, Marinakis is an extremely aspirational owner, but eventually, he will have to allow a head coach to establish something.

These reports might indicate that he’s not satisfied with what he’s observed at Forest from Espirito Santo.

It would be cruel to sacrifice him in light of everything he has endured at the City Ground.

Naturally, Marinakis may be using this as a ploy to make the head coach of Fiorentina uncomfortable before the European final next week.

If Marinakis felt it was necessary to remove Espirito Santo at Forest, Italiano would be a valuable appointment.

But after 2023–2024, allowing the current head coach to leave his mark on the team is likely the very least he deserves.
