Everton to seal record-breaking deal with former Man Utd star

In an attempt to shatter the club record, Ashley Young is said to have informed Everton that he will accept their offer of a one-year contract extension.

The former England international had a brilliant career, making his debut at Watford before going on to play for Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Inter Milan.
When he helped Inter win Serie A in 2021, it appeared as though his incredible career in football would come to an end, but the Stevenage-born player was not done with the game.

Young re-signed with Villa in 2021, just before turning thirty-six, and played 57 games before moving to Everton in the summer of that same year.
Occasionally, when younger and more agile wingers have overcome him, the full-back has appeared to be older than he actually is.
Despite losing eight points overall for breaking the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations, Everton successfully avoided relegation to the Championship, and over time, he gained the respect of both the team and its supporters.

The 38-year-old’s contract with Sean Dyche’s team expires at the end of June, and he is about to become a free agent again after agreeing to a one-year deal last summer.

The veteran stated that negotiations for a contract are still going on with the Merseyside team and that a deal would eventually be reached.

Young is headed for a new deal.
“My contract runs out at the end of June, but I’ve spoken to the manager and we had a quick conversation about staying for another season,” he said to talkSPORT last week. Right now, the only thing left to do is work out the last few details for the upcoming season.

“Yes, he said in response to the question of whether he wanted to stay for another season. I would be happy to continue playing for as long as possible, even if it meant signing a one- or two-year contract.

“I’m always happy to sign a new contract, no matter what everyone offers.” I had a great time playing there this season, and I would love to return and spend more time there with the players and staff. It’s a great big club.

Football Insider claims that although Young may have preferred to remain at Everton for an additional two years, manager Dyche has made him an offer for a new one-year contract because of his versatility and experience.

Young, who can play on the wings, in midfield, or as a full-back, is supposedly about to sign a new deal.

Despite the fact that Everton’s financial issues have received a lot of attention, a deal involving Young—who has 711 club football appearances since making his Watford debut in the 2003–04 season—will not significantly strain the team’s finances.

The 34-game season starter for the Toffees last season, the former United star, will be the team’s oldest outfield player if he signs a new contract at Goodison Park.

He will be 17 days older than the current record-holder Richard Gough, who was 39 years and 17 days old when he played his final game for the team back in 2001, when the new season begins on August 17.
