The Nottingham Forest star Chelsea is pursuing has a “massive advantage.”
Chelsea to Murillo? Blues want to replace Silva with a Forest defender.
The Athletic reports that Chelsea is increasing their interest in Nottingham Forest defender Murillo in an attempt to close the defensive gap with teams vying for the Champions League by reaching into the English market.
The loss of players at center-back means that the Blues will be in desperate need of a replacement in the upcoming summer transfer window. Thiago Silva, a Brazilian centre back who spent four great years at Chelsea, is scheduled to leave Stamford Bridge this summer. Another Brazilian CB may be selected by the team to take Thiago Silva’s place.
Trevoh Chalobah is reportedly close to leaving Chelsea, so Thiago may not be the only defender to depart during the off-season.
Deal Alert! Todd Boehly & Co. are reportedly one of the teams keeping an eye on the 21-year-old for a potential move this summer, according to The Athletic. Chelsea is expected to make a move for the wonderkid defender from Forest. Despite Nottingham Forest’s poor standing in the English premier league, Murillo has had some outstanding performances in the just finished campaign.
Forest might have to sell a star player this summer due to PSR compliance becoming more stringent every season; Chelsea would be better served by focusing on their player of the year [2023/24], Murillo.
Former player turned analyst Pundit Jamie Redknapp has praised the player and stated that he would be a complete steal at the anticipated fee that Forest would accept for his services. The former Spurs midfielder said the following while speaking with Sky Sports.
He has an extensive arsenal of weapons. His left foot is really nice, which is a huge advantage for you. Is he able to defend? Indeed.
Then, with this incredible feat of skill, he transforms into the best Roberto Carlos ever. Can they do that? That’s what you want from modern centre backs.
He likes to defend as well. Although he is clearly a little deeper (in the example shown), he still wants to build blocks. He’s barely twenty-one. It appears they paid £13 million for him. He appears to be a great value. Arriving in the Premier League is never easy, but he’s adapted so well and effortlessly.
