The Hoops would love to see the Irishman return for the following season.

Adam Idah admits he has no idea whether he will play football for Celtic or Norwich next season.

The striker wants to return to Parkhead after a successful loan stay that included a memorable goal in a Scottish Cup final victory over Rangers. It came after vital league goals against Motherwell, Hibs, and Gers, and the Republic of Ireland forward has clearly made his impression.

Despite their desire to keep the 23-year-old, the Hoops had no control over the situation because the loan agreement included no option to buy. Brendan Rodgers admitted as much, but the player was much more coy about the matter and remains so despite being questioned while on international duty.

The Canaries planned to play hardball since they are not ready to discuss a permanent deal after changing management. Idah is under contract until 2028 and is expected to be given a chance to impress new manager Johannes Hoff during preseason training.

As things stand, the player expects that to happen, although he did not rule out a return to Celtic.

Idah stated, “Celtic is a massive club and built off the fans. Playing games like the Cup Final, and scoring the winner, I’m sure the fans will appreciate it and I appreciate them just as much.

“I’m still contracted to Norwich and have four years left there. I’m still going back to Norwich as it stands, I haven’t really thought too much about it. I spoke briefly to Norwich about when I’m coming back. It’s difficult at the start of the window as it’s coming up to our summer holidays and we’re on internationals right now.

“I’ve never been in this situation before and don’t know much about how it works. We’re on internationals right now and that is my main focus. Then I’ll get a holiday or two in and see what happens.”

When asked if he wanted to return to Celtic, he replied: “Look, I’m still at Norwich and I have four years at Norwich. They are my parent club and I don’t know what’s going on.”
