The 37-year-old retired after winning a domestic double, giving his career the fairytale ending it deserved in front of a devoted fan base.

Hart made 153 appearances for Celtic, conceding less than one goal per game and keeping 64 clean sheets [Transfermarkt].

Despite being one of the top goalkeepers in the world during the 2010s, he immersed himself in the club and had an insatiable desire for success, making him an ideal match for an institution that demands trophies every year.

Following a few weeks off, Hart will go to Germany to join the BBC’s punditry crew for EURO 2024, which begins later this week.

Celtic have now published a fantastic video celebrating his three-year stint as Scottish Premiership champions.

At the end of the video, the club posted a message with the words ‘Thank You Joe’: “153 appearances. 3 League titles, 2 Scottish Cups, and 2 Scottish League Cups. Thank you Joe. Best of luck with your retirement!”

Celtic will continue to progress regardless of personnel; nonetheless, it is difficult to envisage seeing Brendan Rodgers’ side without his imposing figure between the sticks.

Sometimes a player and a club just click, with a shared understanding of principles being critical to a successful connection.

It may sound cliche, but Hart got Celtic. His zeal was evident in his performances on the game, and his winning attitude provided significant knowledge to the team, given his past triumphs south of the border.
