Steve Kerr Complains About The Loud Music in Suns’ Arena: ‘It’s Like a South Beach Club Out There’
Steve Kerr was in the middle of talking about how important communication is in basketball when he thought of something that made it challenging for his team to do so: The loud music at the Footprint Center.
In an interview after the Golden State Warriors‘ loss to the Phoenix Suns, Kerr lamented how the arena music made it difficult for the team to communicate.
“It’s the communication. It’s playing with force, it’s playing downhill, it’s playing with great communication. You can hear everybody talking defensively, although, in this building, you can’t hear anything. It’s just like a club; it’s like a South Beach club out there.
What are we doing? I’m being dead-serious. I couldn’t hear anything out there. It’s just the whole game, it’s just thumping techno club music. Can we have just a basketball game anymore? What the hell? Sorry for the rant.”

For sure, if Golden State managed to pull off a win, the complaints wouldn’t be so vehement. In the end, the Suns pulled away in the free-throw line to salvage the victory, 123-115. Phoenix shot 52 free throws to the Warriors’ 29. That seemed to be the biggest difference in the game.
The 52 free throw attempts for the Suns tonight were the most by a Warriors opponent since April 2015.

Another challenge the Warriors faced was the ejection of Chris Paul in the second quarter. Paul was arguing with referee Scott Foster and was assessed two technical fouls. The point guard felt Foster’s call was “personal,” although many felt Paul was inexplicably arguing an apparent foul on his part.
The Warriors have now lost eight of its last ten games. Interestingly, they have had a worse home record, winning only two of its eight outings at the Chase Center. The Draymond Green suspension hurts as the team lost an excellent defender and solid playmaker to run things.
Golden State is now eleventh in a stacked Western Conference. With every loss, it will be more difficult to recover with the eighth to tenth-place teams all trending up.
