Vata, who attended the Celtic Academy, scored a goal in the Scottish Cup against Buckie Thistle last season, but he only played less than 10 minutes of SPFL Premiership football.
He started out for the Celtic B team in the Lowland League as a quick right winger, but for the past 18 months, he has been used as a striker.
Vata should have signed a new contract and become more involved with the first team last summer, but the additions of Marco Tilio, Yang Hyun-jun, and Luis Palma pushed him further down the hierarchy.
Sead Haksabanovic left Celtic for Malmo last week, but the first team still has over 30 players, and it will take effort to reduce that number to a manageable level.
