Matheus Cunha feels Wolves teammate and compatriot Joao Gomes has the potential to become ‘one of the top midfielders in the world’.
Both Brazilians had excellent 2023/24 seasons in gold and black, but only Gomes was chosen to represent his country at the Copa America.
The 23-year-old starred in the middle of midfield and has been a regular for Brazil, and Cunha feels Gomes has what it takes to ascend to the top, implying that he might go on to play for major Champions League sides.
“So good; honestly, I think he can arrive to be one of the best midfielders in the world,” Cunha commented regarding Gomes.
“I could compare them, but I don’t want to put them in the same category because it is always difficult because people get crazy about it, and it is not good to put them together, but I believe Casemiro was one of the best midfielders in Brazil.”
