Danny Röhl signing a new contract with Sheffield Wednesday in May fuelled speculation that Henrik Pedersen and Chris Powell might also sign new contracts.
Danny Röhl’s Sheffield Wednesday contract extension until 2027 has not triggered immediate contract talks with the rest of his staff to bring them in line with his deal, according to The Star, with discussions taking place near the end of their existing agreements when the upcoming season ends.
Chris Powell, one of Röhl’s assistant coaches, initially signed a contract until last month as his own desire, but is understood to have extended it after Wednesday’s confirmation that he would be remaining through the 2024/25 season. Henrik Pedersen, Sascha Lense, and Sal Bibbo are reported to be under contract in the summer of 2025, with absolute confirmation of their futures pending for the time being as the club moves forward with its plans for the upcoming season.
“We will wait until next summer,” a relaxed Röhl told The Star after the Owls in the Park event earlier this month. “My crew is (contracted) till next summer, and their contracts are all the same duration. For my part, I already have a contract, and I will do everything I can to ensure that they are the same duration.”

In the midst of a whirlwind transfer push, Wednesday are currently spending time at the world-class St George’s Park facility in the early stages of their pre-season schedule, and will travel to a training camp in Germany later this month to play two friendlies in Austria. Liam Palmer’s testimonial match against Leganes will be the penultimate encounter of a reduced friendly schedule before the regular season begins on August 11.
