Tam McManus predicts a Clement first at Rangers in showdown with Aberdeen

Tam McManus has predicted that Rangers will drop points in the Scottish Premiership for the first time under Philippe Clement when they take on Aberdeen.

The Gers have a perfect record from their first four league games under the Belgian coach, while it is five wins from five since Michael Beale departed.

Rangers’ most recent loss came at the hands of Aberdeen on 30 September, however, and former Hibernian forward McManus can see them being held at Pittodrie on Sunday (26 November).

Speaking on PLZ Soccer’s The Saturday Preview Show [25 November, 8m 55s], McManus said: “It’s a difficult one to call. Aberdeen have been inconsistent, but when they’ve been good they’ve been really good.

“Rangers are doing well under a new manager. I think there’ll be goals, and I’m going to go with a draw in this one. I think Aberdeen are capable of getting a draw. 2-2.”

Contrasting form

Aberdeen have showed already this season they are capable of beating Rangers, let alone holding them to a draw, having won 3-1 at Ibrox less than two months ago.

However, it must be remembered that the Light Blues were a completely different side back then as they struggled for form under Beale.

Taking all competitions into account, Rangers have won six and drawn one of their seven matches under Clement by an aggregate 18-2 scoreline.Rangers

When you also factor in that Aberdeen were thumped 6-0 by Celtic in their most recent match, then Rangers have to be considered the favourites.

Indeed, the hosts have won just one of their four league games since the win at Ibrox and find themselves down in ninth place.

If Rangers can pick up from where they left off two weeks ago, this should be another victory that keeps us in outside title contention.
