The first Dundee derby in over two years will take place in front of a sold-out Tannadice.

Dundee United’s return to top-flight football begins on Sunday with a thrilling derby against fierce rivals Dundee.

Home fans acted quickly, purchasing their allocation in less than 90 minutes after the Tangerines made them available.

Tickets for the away end went on sale shortly after, with season-ticket holders purchasing 2,800 of the 3,300 available.

However, due to teething issues with a new ticketing system, the general sale of the remaining 500 briefs was delayed by 24 hours.

As soon as they went live at noon on Tuesday, fans rushed to click and claim their chance to watch the action in person.

There have been a number of complaints from fans who missed out on tickets because the website crashed.

For those who did make it through the system, Dundee’s remaining allocation sold out just over an hour after going on sale, with the club announcing on social media at 1.10pm that all briefs had been snapped up.

That means the Sunday match will be played in front of a packed Tannadice.

The game starts at 1.30pm and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
