Brendan Rodgers explains Marco Tilio inclusion
Brendan Rodgers has spoken about the inclusion of Marco Tilio in his matchday squad to face Motherwell.
The Australian makes his first Celtic squad since joining back in the summer.
It’s been a long road from injury to find himself in this position and Brendan Rodgers has recognised his effort as well as confidence levels after playing for his country over the international break.
Speaking to BBC Sportsound the Celtic gaffer said “It’s been a real challenging start for him with injury & the team doing well.
“He went away with Australia and had some minutes – just coming back the last couple of days, just observing him. You can see that little bit of confidence through playing.”
It’s nice to have an Australian back in the squad. It’s been a familiar theme over the years. Tom Rogic in the team for years and when he left Aaron Mooy took up the mantle.
Tilio could potentially follow in their footsteps on Saturday afternoon if he gets onto the pitch.
You’d imagine Brendan will hand the player his debut if the game is comfortable towards the end.
The Hoops could go eleven points clear with a win against the Steelmen. After beating Aberdeen 6-0 in their last SPFL fixture, the bhoys have set the standard.
Fingers crossed we can get the three points and Tilio can properly start his Celtic career.
