Hampton is named to the 2024 Doak Walker Award watch list.

Dallas, Texas –Omarion Hampton, a 2023 Doak Walker Award finalist, has been added to the 2024 Doak Walker Award Watch List, the selection committee said on Tuesday.

In addition to the Doak Walker Award Watch List, Hampton has been named to the Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Award watch lists, as well as the 2024 All-ACC Preseason Football Team.

Hampton finished the 2023 season with 1,504 yards on 253 rushes and 15 touchdowns, as well as 29 receptions for 222 yards and a touchdown. Last season, he led the Atlantic Coast Conference in rushing attempts (253), yards (1,504), touchdowns (15), attempts per game (19.46), and yards per game (115.4).

Hampton had 1,504 running yards and an average of 115.7 rushing yards per game, ranking in the top five nationally.

The PwC SMU Athletic Forum Board of Directors will reveal ten semifinalists in November, followed by three finalists chosen by the Doak Walker Award National Selection Committee in November. The committee will vote again in December to select the recipient. The National Selection Committee consists of previous winners, former NFL All-Pro and college All-America running backs, media members, and special representatives. The winner of the 2024 Doak Walker Award will be revealed live on The Home Depot College Football Awards on December 12, 2024.

The award is named after SMU’s three-time All-American running back, Doak Walker. Each Tuesday this season, The PwC SMU Athletic Forum will announce a Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week.
