Nottingham Forest
In light of interest from Germany and Denmark, Nottingham Forest will allow a “quality” player to leave.
Nottingham Forest are finalising their squad ahead of the transfer window and there are still a number of players who the club want to get rid of.
Despite only adding six new players this summer, Forest is still suffering from one of their busiest transfer windows since rejoining the Premier League.
Josh Bowler, Joe Worrall, and Emmanuel Dennis are all free to depart the team if any offers materialise before the transfer deadline.
Then there is the B-Team, which is stocked with players who might benefit from stints on loan from the team or, in certain situations, would be happy to leave permanently.
One player who hasn’t done much at all during the preseason is Alex Mighten. A new update regarding Forest’s thoughts on the young forward has surfaced.
Nottingham Forest decides on Alex Mighten
After returning from a loan stint with Port Vale, the adaptable forward went unnoticed, and now Forest is getting ready to let him go.
The Athletic claims that clubs from Belgium, Germany, and Denmark are preparing to evaluate their options for Mighten, and that Forest is getting ready to review them.
Born in America, Mighten now hopes to play for the USMNT and understands that he must play football to achieve that goal.
The 22-year-old needs to go somewhere where he can play consistently in a position that fits him because he has outgrown football on the B-Team.
There is no chance of making it into the senior ranks anytime soon at Forest, with players like Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga in the first team setup.
When Gary Brazil worked with the Forest academy, he had nothing but praise for Mighten. If he gets regular playing time, he has the potential to be a player.
Loan spells have failed Mighten.
Given that Darren Moore played a major role in two of Mighten’s unsuccessful loan stints, it’s difficult to feel anything but sympathy for him.
Moore moved him to Sheffield Wednesday, which ought to have been a wise choice for him, but he never felt comfortable in Moore’s system.
He was frequently forced to play through the middle or as a wing-back, which hampered his best qualities.
When Moore took over as manager last season, Mighten was already on loan at Port Vale, and he once more had trouble fitting into Moore’s system
It’s unfortunate that his development has stalled a little bit and that things haven’t worked out for him during his brief stints away from the team.
Mighten will have to make a tough decision, but maybe he can get a respectable transfer out of the team this summer and resume displaying his obvious talent.
