CLEMENT TALKS A GOOD GAME, BUT TALKING ABOUT CATCHING CELTIC, AND ACTUALLY CATCHING THEM, ARE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS
But talking a good game, and delivering a good game at Ibrox is easier said than done.
I haven’t heard a manager at Ibrox say we should be self-focused in a long time, until now.
He’d prefer not to think about Celtic.
That alone suggests to me that he will present a far more formidable task than Michael Beale did.
Here’s the question: Does Philippe Clement possess the tactical and managerial acumen to go up against Brendan Rodgers?
With the team he has now, can he turn copper into gold?
Is he able to compete against a team with significantly more resources than Celtic?
To achieve so, he will require a very high level of managerial proficiency.
And that’s all before Ibrox’s madness gets inside his nose.
It will finally take hold of him.
In the same way that it has with all of his predecessors.
I’ll give him a shot if he can overcome that.
Should he be unable to do so, he will ultimately find himself in the same location as all of his predecessors.
