Hart, Maeda and Johnston react to loan bhoy’s high profile debut
Many of Gus Lagerbielke’s former Celtic teammates were pleased with his Twente debut.
The defender arrived in Holland during the last week of the transfer window, but he wasn’t able to play in a competitive game until Wednesday night.
The teenage defender was brought on as a replacement in the 83rd minute of Twente’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford, where the Dutch team managed to salvage a point at the “Theatre of Dreams.”
Lagerbielke’s career at the Dutch club was off to a start, but Twente had to wait four minutes for their point to be secured.
The defender had an amazing season at Celtic last year, which included scoring the game-winning goal in Celtic’s Champions League triumph over Feyenoord and keeping a clean sheet with Liam Scales in a victory at Ibrox.
In addition, he received a red card away to Feyenoord and had his January loan move to Lecce fall through late because Celtic held him back over worries over Cameron Carter-Vickers.
As seen by the responses to his Instagram post, he maintained his positive attitude, relished life in Scotland, and had a significant influence on his teammates despite everything.
Twente will play Brenda at home in the Eredivisie on Sunday before hosting Fenerbahce in the Europa League.
