Morgan Gibbs-White makes honest admission as Nottingham Forest red card incident addressed
The star player for Forest has acknowledged that he plays risky. However, he is certain that not so long ago, the outcome of his tackle would have been different.
Gibbs-White was told by BBC analyst Dion Dublin that he approached the game similarly to Wayne Rooney and Roy Keane. Dublin continued, quoting former Reds midfielder Keane as saying there was no use in playing any other way.
Speaking for a feature on Football Focus, Gibbs-White replied: “I feel the exact same. Speaking of red cards, obviously I got one the other day.
“It happens. It does.
“Those tackles were practically unavoidable six or seven years ago, and everyone would say it was a terrific tackle. However, I believe that the game has evolved and that they are now attempting to see it from a different angle.
“After giving the game another glance, I noticed that it was a 50/50 match. I simply knew what I was going to do beforehand and how fast I was moving at the time. As I previously stated, I am fully devoted to completing a task.
Jones also dismissed Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler and Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo for their responses to the Gibbs-White incident. The Football Association has already filed charges against Nuno and Gibbs-White for allegedly behaving in “an improper manner” and/or speaking to the referees in “abusive and/or insulting words.”
Gibbs-White was suspended for the Reds’ 1-0 loss to Fulham on Saturday due to his red card. He’ll be accessible again this weekend when Nuno’s men travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Sunday (2pm kick-off).
