Anthony Elanga scored Nottingham Forest’s winner in a 1-0 victory at Chelsea last season and he is backing his side to repeat the feat at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday

Before Forest’s journey to west London, Elanga stated to BBC Radio Nottingham, “Hopefully we can go there, just be brave and believe we can go there and win,” adding that he thinks the team has the players to accomplish it. While acknowledging Chelsea’s impressive start to the year, Elanga emphasized Cole Palmer’s play, a player he has known from their Manchester youth days.

In addition, he listed other important players including Jadon Sancho, Noni Madueke, and Nicolas Jackson, calling the latter a friend and someone who has had a strong season so far. Elanga did, however, stress how crucial it is to follow Forest’s strategy.

The team’s road success has vaulted them into the top half of the Premier League standings; their two triumphs came from 1-0 road victory at Southampton and Liverpool. The Sweden international Elanga spoke on the team’s encouraging start to the season and their impressive away performances, even though there were a few opportunities lost.

In closing, he acknowledged the team’s sad home loss to Fulham and said he was looking forward to the team’s next game against Chelsea as a chance to recover.

Nottingham Forest’s six games this season have yielded just 11 goals, six for and five against, making them the lowest scoring teams in the Premier League. The cohesiveness of his team has been commended by manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who said, “The team has been solid and compact but it’s about teamwork.”

He further added, “(It is) not only the defensive line and midfield, it starts with pressure from the front and covering the spaces.”

Looking ahead to their upcoming match against Chelsea, he acknowledged, “It’s going to be very important against Chelsea because they have good players and play good football. It will require a lot of hard work from us.”
