Watch: Ronaldo Gives Anthony Ralston Frosty Full Time Reception
Cristiano Ronaldo and his all-star teammates were frustrated when Scotland managed to secure a hard-earned 0-0 draw against Portugal at Hampden on Tuesday night. The Scots were unwavering in the face of their home supporters, blocking the Portuguese attack on a chilly Glasgow night.
Anthony Ralston of Celtic was one of the players that stepped up for Scotland. Under Brendan Rodgers, the Hoops’ reserve right-back hasn’t played much this season, but he has responded to calls for his nation when necessary. Ralston was substituted out after playing till the 89th minute.
At full time, Ronaldo was visibly upset about the outcome and some refereeing calls. Like the most of his colleagues, Ralston went up to the Portugal players to shake hands after the game.
When the Celtic defender held out his hand to Ronaldo, he received a cold response. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner offered Ralston the smallest of handshakes after a brief pause before hurried away to continue his grievances with the authorities.
Unfazed, Ralston performed his duties and will undoubtedly be happy with Scotland’s outcome. Celtic supporters can finally return to club football as the international break draws to a close.
