Celtic star earns first international cap for 16 months after progress at Bhoys
Auston Trusty makes appearance for the United States
In the early hours, Celtic defender Auston Trusty came off the bench for the United States against Mexico, marking his first involvement on the international scene since June 2023.
He only made one further appearance for the Stars and Stripes, which brought his total number of caps to three, against Canada and Grenada in the CONCACAF Nations League.
Unfortunately, goals from Raul Jimenez and Cesar Huerta caused his team to lose 2-0 in Guadulajara. For the last 10 minutes, Trusty replaced Antonee Robinson after coming off the bench.
However, his appearance marks a major advancement under Mauricio Pochettino’s new leadership. In the past, Trusty was only granted a watching brief instead of the opportunity to lead the USA to victory over Panama.
