Howard Webb speaks out on Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest incident

Due to a VAR issue that seems to occur nearly every week, Howard Webb is constantly in the news.

Earlier in the season, Nottingham Forest defeated Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield, with a goal by Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Dominik Szoboszlai was given a yellow card for kicking the ball away, but there was an event near the finish of the game that caused a lot of controversy.

It’s interesting that Howard Webb has now publicly shared his thoughts on that incident.

This is what he stated on the Overlap.
“Trossard’s performance in the City vs. Arsenal game and, um, Szoboszlai’s performance in the Liverpool vs. Forest game were compared a few weeks ago.”

“They’re truly incomparable in terms of the significance because one occurred at the conclusion of the first half on a freekick to Man City in an attacking area in extra time, and Trossard’s kick away stopped City from even considering a quick restart.

They would have wanted to, or at least had the choice to, I’m sure. At the time, I believe the score was 2-1 in favor of Arsenal.

“In the other, Liverpool loses to Forest 1 nil at home, and it takes 90 plus four minutes.” Szoboszlai wastes his own time by kicking the ball across the penalty area in irritation after Liverpool is assessed an offside or a foul.

“Well, if we warned him at that moment, that would be crazy. It’s like if you’re doing our work for us, so why would we warn him then for kicking the ball away? Thank you very much, Forest remarked.

While the previous one had an impact on City’s ability to restart the game, in this case we would be perceived as completely out of touch with the game.

Since there were players prepared to restart in this scenario and no Forest players present, they wouldn’t have done so in a hurry, you know. It made perfect sense to me to have some sort of comprehension of the game, and I’m sure it does the same for you.
