Canaries goal-scoring legend to be honored in tribute match.
This weekend’s memorial match will honour the life of a Canaries goal-scoring legend.
Sunday’s event will honor Terry Allcock, Norwich City’s second-highest scorer, who died in June at the age of 88.
Mr Allcock was born in Leeds in 1935 and played for the Bolton Wanderers in 1952.
He then made his Norwich City debut in 1958, drawing against Millwall, and earned the nickname The Count.
The Canaries’ favourite went on to manage Dereham Town.
The memorial match between former Dereham and Fakenham football players will begin at 10.30 a.m. on Sunday at Aldiss Park in Dereham.
There will also be an unveiling of a tribute to Mr Allcock, with attendees able to enjoy a glass of Terry Allcock Tribute Ale, brewed to 3.91 pc to commemorate his 391 games for Norwich City.
His family will also display memorabilia from his career, such as shirts, programmes, and press cuttings.
Trevor Saunders, who has helped coordinate the event, stated, “We are all really excited about the day.
“People have really come together for The Count and it’s been a real team effort.
“There are so many parts to the day and we are very grateful to Dereham and Fakenham U10’s and all the former players taking part to celebrate Terry and raise awareness of dementia.
“Terry Allcock’s family have been magnificent and there will be a display of his football and cricket memorabilia for people to remember the great man.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and NICHE Anchor Institute for having stands to give people the chance to talk about dementia and research.
“Dereham Town Football Club have been incredible and we just hope people come out in numbers to remember and celebrate a true legend.”
