Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann was furious with the Leeds United groundskeepers after being caught in the sprinklers at Elland Road.

The Hornets goalkeeper was not happy on the pitch before the game, as footage shared by X [@wbahazz] showed Bachmann arguing with the groundsmen after being sprayed by the sprinklers.

Bachmann set the tone for his evening with the altercation, allowing two goals in the first 10 minutes to Largie Ramazani and Brendon Aaronson in the Whites’ 2-1 victory.

Leeds United practice the dark arts at Elland Road.

Whether intentional or not, the altercation with the groundsmen clearly got to the Watford player’s head before a ball was kicked.

Bachmann made a similar error to Illan Meslier’s in the 2-2 draw against Sunderland, misreading Ramazani’s effort to give the hosts the lead.

The Whites dominated the game from the start and are now tied for first place in the Championship table with Sunderland, despite the fact that the Black Cats have one game in hand.

Leeds made their own mistake when Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk were at fault for Kwadwo Baah’s goal early in the second half, giving Watford a lifeline that, fortunately for Daniel Farke, was only a consolation.

Farke made a risky decision by benching the in-form Mateo Joseph for the match, but it paid off handsomely as Leeds demonstrated that, despite the club’s current injury crisis, they can outscore any team in the division in their quest to return to Premier League.

All eyes will be on Kenilworth Road on Wednesday [23 October], with Leeds fans hoping Luton Town can defy the odds and prevent Sunderland from reclaiming the Championship lead.
