Rangers senior figure quits as new Ibrox hire is disclosed – official paperwork filed
Rangers have confirmed the appointment of a new secretary and the departure of one high-profile director according to reports.
According to Companies House submissions on Friday (8 November), Creag Robertson’s role as director of football operations at Ibrox has been officially terminated.
James Taylor’s position as secretary has also been terminated, but he will remain as chief financial officer for the Scottish giants.
Graham Horsman, who joined Rangers in January as a football legal counsel, will take over as secretary following the internal reshuffle.
Robertson’s exit is the latest in a string of high-profile departures in recent months.
Former Rangers director John Gilligan is temporarily filling in as chairman after John Bennett stepped down for health reasons in September, and the club is also without a CEO after James Bisgrove left earlier this year.
Finance expert Stefan Borson reported that the Glasgow club has an “enormous” issue to address following their recent boardroom exits.
Rangers face financial challenges, with another exit confirmed.
It comes at a time when Rangers’ financial situation is under intense scrutiny, following the release of their latest accounts for 2023-24 on October 29.
The club’s core revenue grew from £83.8 million in 2022-23 to a record-breaking £88.3 million, while total income reached £94.2 million.
However, their net losses increased by £4.1 million to £17.2 million last season, highlighting the financial challenges Ibrox executives are currently facing.
Borson also reported that Rangers’ losses put them in a “vulnerable” position because they rely on their owners to invest money to keep things running.
While Philippe Clement’s side has had a reasonable start to their Europa League campaign this season, picking up seven points out of a possible 12, their performance in the Scottish Premiership has fallen far short of expectations.
Rangers are currently third in the table, nine points behind Celtic and Aberdeen.
