Nottingham Forest player snubs group dinner – Decision not going down well
Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson has left Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga out of his squad for November’s international break.
Last week, the Dane revealed the 22-year-old didn’t answer his calls or messages, after learning about his omission.
Fotbollskanalen explains the Nottingham Forest player’s behaviour last month wasn’t well received by the national team.
He received calls from Tomasson in September and October. The winger did not play in Sweden’s games against Estonia and Slovakia last month.
Numerous sources have told Fotbollskanalen that the Nottingham Forest player was miffed about not playing any minutes for the national squad in October. He “did not show up at the gathering’s closing dinner” as a result.
Elanga was allegedly the sole player who skipped last month’s meal.
The Sweden manager was asked about the Nottingham Forest attacker’s absence from the current group. His comments are relayed by SVT Sport.
“I don’t comment on what happens in the squad. It stays in the squad,” he said.
He was asked ‘how tough’ it is to deal with young players who are disappointed with their lack of minutes.
“We have clear guidelines on how we do things when we are together. It’s the same at my house. We want to socialise, we want to have a good time together,” Tomasson explained.
Elanga has registered two assists from 12 matches for Nottingham Forest this season.
