Nottingham Forest willing to listen for offers for Super Eagles star
English Premier League club Nottingham Forest are willing to listen to offers for Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi in January, Soccernet.ng reports.
Awoniyi has had a disappointing campaign with the Tricky Trees. The 27-year-old striker used to be the first-choice striker at the club, but he has been displaced by Chris Wood, who has been on fire this season.
During his first two seasons, Awoniyi suffered greatly from injuries. He missed 50 club and national team games last season, which is 33 more than two seasons before.
Coach Nuno Espirito Santo has continued to play Wood since the Australian has scored ten goals in 17 games this season.
This season, Awoniyi has only made 13 appearances, the majority of which have been as a substitute.
West Ham and other English Premier League teams have previously been connected to the Nigerian striker, but it is unlikely that the Hammers will pursue the transfer after acquiring Niklas Fullkrug last summer.
Now, it seems that the Super Eagles star is not satisfied with the current situation at Nottingham Forest. This is as Talk Forest have reported that the Tricky Trees are willing to listen to offers with Awoniyi.
Awoniyi is currently valued at €22 million according to Transfermarkt, and he still has 30 months left on his contract.
It is extremely doubtful that Awoniyi will start as Nottingham Forest’s first-choice striker given Woods’ outstanding play. And Awoniyi can lose his spot on the national squad if things keep going this way.
