According to reports, Nottingham Forest will soon be prepared to begin contract negotiations with head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

Since assuming leadership of the Reds little over a year ago, the Portuguese have performed admirably. After leading the team to safety in the second half of the last campaign, he has now turned Forest into a team that can contend for the top spot in the standings.

When Nuno took over as manager in December 2023, he agreed to a two-and-a-half-year contract with Steve Cooper. The Reds are keen to sign the 50-year-old to new terms, according to TBR Football.

Nuno signed a two-and-a-half-year deal when he replaced Steve Cooper at the helm in December 2023. According to TBR Football, the Reds are eager to tie down the 50-year-old to fresh terms.

The report claims it first emerged Forest were ready to offer Nuno a new contract “a few months down the road” back in October. It is said the club’s stance about opening talks with the Reds chief “in the coming weeks” remains unchanged.

Nuno is not the only important player at the City Ground that Forest is eager to sign. Ola Aina, a full-back, and Chris Wood, a striker, have already been consulted over new contracts before their existing ones expire in the summer. Maintaining both players and the head coach is a “priority” for the team, according to TBR Football.

Following a five-game winning streak, the Reds began the new year ranked second in the table. When they travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, January 6 (8 p.m. kickoff), they will be looking to make it six straight wins.

Nuno has been adamant about staying grounded despite his team’s impressive performance. But as Forest looks to make the second half of the season as thrilling as the first, he has stated that he wants supporters to enjoy the ride.

“We’re having fun. After Sunday’s victory over Everton, he remarked, “We are particularly enjoying because our fans are enjoying with us.” Nothing is altered. We can’t alter. We must acknowledge that we have not accomplished anything. The next game will be much more difficult, and it will remain that way until the very end. We are playing in a very competitive league.
