Callum Hudson-Odoi injury update provided as Nottingham Forest prepare for Brighton clash
It has been decided that Callum Hudson-Odoi will not play for Nottingham Forest against Brighton & Hove Albion.
When the Seagulls visit the City Ground on Saturday (12.30pm kick-off), the Reds winger will miss his second straight game. Due to a groin injury he suffered against Southampton, he was unable to play in last weekend’s 5-0 pounding at Bournemouth.
Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is unsure when Hudson-Odoi will be fit to return to action. However, he does have long-term absentees Danilo (broken ankle) and Ibrahim Sangare (hamstring) fully back in contention.
“Callum is out. He is not going to be involved in the game. It is a big absence for us,” Nuno said.
“We are still assessing. It is something we hope to improve soon but he is not going to be available for this game.
“The rest is basically the same. Ibrahim and Danilo are ready; they joined the squad.”
Forest’s nine-match winning streak in all competitions ended with their failure on the south coast. However, they are still on track to have a memorable season and are now in third place in the Premier League standings ahead of kickoff on Saturday.
Nuno is eager to watch how his players respond, though, as they attempt to rally against the Seagulls. He earlier called the loss at Vitality Stadium a “warning,” and he expects the home team to play far better this time.
“We need to do much better,” he stated. “We need to play better football and be more resilient. Last weekend, we missed a number of passes because we were inaccurate.
“There are a lot of things we can do better. We possess a big challenge ahead of us because Brighton are a very good team.”
