A £10 million Nottingham Forest player who impressed Ryan Yates is being pursued by two EFL clubs.

This summer, Nottingham Forest has a tone of business to attend to as they look to add players to their roster and let go of others.

The Reds’ roster is overly large, and Nuno Espirito Santo is known to prefer working with fewer players.
Elliot Anderson, a midfielder for Newcastle, is nearing a £35 million deal with Forest, and his medical is scheduled for today.

It appears that interest in a current Forest player is increasing after some news about him surfaced.
Two clubs are now pursuing Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien.

Since moving to Forest for £10 million from Huddersfield just after the 2022 Play-Off Final, O’Brien hasn’t truly experienced anything.

O’Brien played for the Reds for just 14 games before being sent on loan to Middlesbrough for the 2023–2024 season.

Forest now wants to fire O’Brien permanently, but things are getting complicated.
The Sun claims that Norwich and Luton are both interested in signing O’Brien from Forest, but they only want to do so on a loan basis.

O’Brien needs to keep playing football, and it doesn’t seem likely that he will be able to do so at Forest the following year.

Luton was demoted from the Premier League the previous season, and Norwich will be looking to compete for promotion once more.

O’Brien is still a good midfield player at age 25, making him one of the best in the Championship.

When Ryan Yates was asked by Steve Cooper which Championship midfielder had most impressed him during the season that saw Forest win promotion, O’Brien was signed by Forest.

O’Brien is right player for Forest at the wrong time

In a perfect world, O’Brien would have excelled in his first season of professional football, but illness and injury denied him that opportunity.

In January 2023, Forest signed Danilo as a member, and Cooper ultimately decided not to include O’Brien in his 25-man roster.

It now appears that Espirito Santo will not provide the former Huddersfield Town player with an opportunity to shine either.

At best, O’Brien would be Forest’s fifth choice in the well-stocked midfield ranks.

Therefore, it’s critical that the club terminate his employment; if they can do so permanently, that would be best.

When O’Brien joined Forest, he seemed like a wise addition, but sadly, he hasn’t quite lived up to expectations in the Premier League.

In the upcoming weeks, perhaps, a mutually agreeable solution can be found, as the player will be itching to play football.
