A major decision is imminent for the 7-goal Celtics star, who is currently “considering his future” at the club.

While speculative links between AC Milan and Celtic midfielder David Turnbull are said to be unfounded, a decision on his future is expected soon.

According to the Herald, the player is contemplating his future, as his contract with the Bhoys is set to expire at the end of the season.

However, rumours from Italy that Serie A club Milan may be interested in Turnbull are said to be purely speculative rather than imminent.

The midfielder, who has seven goals for Celtic this season in all competitions, is free to sign a pre-contract with any club in January.

There is still a Celtic option available to David Turnbull.

David Turnbull Celtic to AC Milan transfer speculation debunked

Manager Brendan Rodgers has previously stated that a contract is on the table for him to sign and that he wants the former Motherwell player to stay.

However, Turnbull spends as much time on the bench as he does in the starting eleven, so he may decide that his future is best served by a club where he can play more regularly.

Celtic should ideally have a firm idea of his plans heading into January, rather than being caught off guard by a pre-contract signing elsewhere.

The upcoming transfer window will be the last opportunity for the Bhoys to recoup any transfer fee for the player if he does not intend to continue his Celtic career. He joined the Steelmen in 2020 for a reported fee of £3.25 million.

Turnbull is clearly not regarded as a starter at a higher European level by the manager. Despite giving Turnbull chances in the Scottish Premiership, Rodgers has preferred Paulo Bernardo and Odin Holm in the Champions League this season.

He does have a goal threat, which can be useful domestically, but it may be best for all parties to pursue different paths in the pursuit of progress.
