‘Absolutely crazy’ – Henry Winter: Everton fans will be gutted as news emerges in last 24 hours
Henry Winter thinks the recent Manchester City news will absolutely destroy the supporters of Everton and Nottingham Forest.
The Champions are contesting a number of issues as part of the Citizens’ legal assault against the Premier League, according to the Times on June 4.
This occurs after the league deducted points for finding the Toffees and Forest guilty of financial violations.
On June 5, at 13:28, Henry, the former head football writer for the Times, said on Sky Sports’ YouTube channel, “The fans of Forest and Everton, absolutely (will be gutted).” They’ll notice that this is wholly inconsistent. All of these legal disputes, point reductions, and other matters must be resolved during the relevant season. The fact that the 115 charges, which City has denied, keep coming up time and time again is just absurd.
There is no doubt that the Premier League has treated Everton unfairly.
The Toffees have good cause to be upset about the Premier League’s seeming inconsistent approach to handling money violations.
The Toffees and Nottingham Forest have both been found guilty of financial violations that resulted in point deductions; however, Manchester City’s 115 alleged charges of financial misconduct have not yet been settled.
The question of justice and equality in the implementation of Premier League rules and regulations is brought up by this discrepancy in treatment.
The speedy resolution of Everton and Nottingham Forest’s cases contrasts sharply with the protracted nature of Manchester City’s case, which has been ongoing for some time.
This disparity points to a lack of consistency in the league’s handling of financial violations.
Moreover, Manchester City’s recent legal challenge against the Premier League, which contested a number of issues, including the rules governing Associated Party Transactions, may make the case against the club weaker.
The Toffees and those who support them feel even more unfairly treated as a result of this development, which further muddies the waters.
