Adam Idah, a forward for Celtic, has withdrawn from Ireland’s international squad after suffering a facial injury during Sunday’s game against Kilmarnock. The 22-year-old told the FAI that he would not be available because of the injury, even though he was originally scheduled to join the Republic of Ireland team on Monday.

Idah sustained a severe elbow to the face during Celtic’s 2-0 victory at Rugby Park, necessitating extensive medical attention on the field and causing a nosebleed. Even though Idah played through the game until Kyogo Furuhashi replaced him, the knock seemed severe enough that he thought twice about playing through the pain for Ireland’s next games.

Celtic’s Hectic Fixture List

The striker is probably putting his club responsibilities first because Celtic’s schedule is jam-packed after this year’s last international break. Idah might be able to make a comeback to the starting lineup in time for Celtic’s match against Hearts on November 23 if the injury is restricted to his face.

Callum McGregor, the team’s captain, and Nicolas Kuhn scored goals as the Hoops easily defeated Kilmarnock 2-0. As Celtic looks to retain momentum on both the domestic and European fronts, in addition to a Glasgow Derby Cup final, Brendan Rodgers will be hoping that Idah is healthy and ready for action in the upcoming hectic weeks.
